چکیده

Ultrafast switching (100 ps domain) depends on extremely fast electrical pulses generated by mm spark gaps at high gas pressure (typically H2). The electron drift velocity under such breakdown conditions is too slow to explain the observed switching times. A type of experiment is suggested.

All-Optical Switching of Picosecond Pulses by Four-Wave Mixing in a Semiconductor Optical Amplifier

High-speed all-optical switching is demonstrated by four-wave mixing (FWM) of picosecond pulses using semiconductor optical amplifiers (SOA). A light source for measurement and switching in the 1.5 μm region is produced using a normal group velocity dispersion fiber and optical parametric oscillator. The output supercontinuum (SC) optical pulses, with a spectral width of approximately 300 nm, a...

The Temperature and Mass Effects on Dust Grain Electrical Potential in Dusty Plasma

By orbit-limited motion (OLM) theory and the kinetic model, currents carried by electronsand ions on the dust grain are obtained and the effects of temperature and drift velocity of ions on thedust grain electrical potential are considered. The calculations were performed for finding the role of densities of dust grains and ions on the dust grain electrical potential which is the ma...

Analysis of Power Dissipation in Drift Region of 6h-silicon Carbide Dimosfet

Today we need faster devices with high voltage and high switching frequency capability, generally used Silicon-based devices are not able to meet these requirements as they need costly cooling systems, so we need much faster devices like Wide band-gap based semiconductors. These devices have superior physical properties that offer multiple advantages like lower intrinsic carrier concentration ,...

s . in s - de t ] 2 4 Ju n 20 04 Negative Ion Drift and Diffusion in a TPC near 1 Bar

Drift velocity and longitudinal diffusion measurements are reported for a Negative Ion TPC (NITPC) operating with Helium + CS 2 gas mixtures at total pressures from 160 to 700 torr. Longitudinal diffusion at the thermal-limit was observed for drift fields up to at least 700 V/cm in all gas mixtures tested. The results are of particular interest in connection with mechanical simplification of Da...

VHF coherent radar signals from the E region ionosphere and the relationship to electron drift velocity and ion acoustic velocity

[1] The Scandinavian Twin Auroral Radar Experiment (STARE) coherent radar system measures the Doppler shifts caused by 1 m plasma waves in the high-latitude E region ionosphere. These Doppler velocities are here related to the electron drift velocity and ion acoustic velocity derived from measurements with the incoherent radar system European Incoherent Scatter (EISCAT). The Doppler velocity is...
